Clinical Cardiology department was started under the dynamic leadership of our Director, Dr. Deepak Bahekar. A fellow of Cardiology society of India; trained under the guidance of Stalwarts in the field like Dr. Farukh Udwadia at Bombay Hospital, he was the pioneer in initiating critical cardiac care in the region. Way back in the year 1986 – One of the first fully equipped CCU in the region catering to all sorts of Cardiac cases and emergencies including Heart attacks, Heart Failure patients, Valvular heart disease patients, congenital heart disease patients was started.

In 2007 – with the partnership with Care group of hospitals and update in CCU care, emergency procedures like intracardiac pacing were initiated. Regular weekly visits from Senior Cardiologists from Nagpur with Echocardiography facility – proved to be a boon to the local cardiac patients. In September 2018, with a dream to bring the facility of interventional Cardiology to Gondia; Dr. Anurag Bahekar joined the department. With an impeccable academic career background and the zeal to bring cardiology care to the grass roots, Dr. Anurag has guided the department to reach great heights. State of Art Cathlab facilities were initiated.

The department has started Paediatric Cardiology Clinic on a monthly basis. More than 100 cases have been diagnosed in the Paediatric Cardiology Clinics. Senior visiting faculty – Dr. Ajay Bhoyar and Dr. Manish, head the unit.
With an eye on comprehensive cardiac care, facilities like diet counseling and Cardiac rehabilitation programs have been initiated.
The department holds the distinction of being the only Centre in the region capable of providing free services to the needy under the PMJAY and MJPJAY schemes.
