Headed by our Director and founder,. This department is the heart of the institute. Trained under the supervision of Stalwarts in the field like Dr. S.M. Patil, Dr. Farukh Udwadia and Dr. At GMC Nagpur, Bombay Hospital and Parsi Hospital; Dr. Deepak Bahekar was the first one to introduce critical care medicine to the region. The department was initiated in the year 1986. It was started as a 10 bedded Hospital set up with 2-bedded ICU, an operation theatre and 24*7 dedicated services to the locals.

In 1996 to meet rising demands, the hospital was upgraded to a 25-bedded setup; bringing quality healthcare to the grass roots. In 2007 it was upgraded to a full-fledged 10 bedded I.C.U. with state of art ventilators, Central monitoring systems, dialysis facility, 24*7 functioning blood distribution unit. In 2018 it added another feather to its cap by becoming the first super specialty center of the region with NABH accreditation reflecting the quality of services provided.

The hospital has the distinction of catering to over 1000 critical COVID inpatients and over 1500 OPD cases over the last 2 years. It has received various awards for excellent outcomes in COVID.
The department is always getting updated with ever changing times. Currently it’s updating to accommodate positive and negative suction areas for catering to patients with low immunity.
Over the years various Newcomers have got guidance from Dr. Deepak Bahekar and he has been a mentor of various physicians in the region.
Recently Dr. Hemal Shah (MD medicine) has joined the department. He contributed immensely to the success of COVID management of the department. With an interest in the field of Nephrology he has added a new dimension to the department. He is currently undergoing training in Critical Care Medicine at Jaipur and aims to bring the current updates to the department.
