It was initiated under the supervision of Dr. Ratnaparkhi sir in 1996 with basic facilities like microscopy. Over the years facilities were upgraded. The lab is now NABH accredited. It is being managed under the able guidance of Dr. Amol Patil, MD Pathology.

The department has started Paediatric Cardiology Clinic on a monthly basis. More than 100 cases have been diagnosed in the Paediatric Cardiology Clinics. Senior visiting faculty – Dr. Ajay Bhoyar and Dr. Manish, head the unit.
With an eye on comprehensive cardiac care, facilities like diet counseling and Cardiac rehabilitation programs have been initiated.
The department holds the distinction of being the only Centre in the region capable of providing free services to the needy under the PMJAY and MJPJAY schemes.
